Ang Sherpa

Ang Sherpa is the Bhutanese Nepali Community Organizer at RISE. Ang was born in Nepal and raised in Queens, NY. As an immigrant child, she was instilled with the importance of education as a means of uplifting oneself and one’s community. While her parents did not have the cultural tools and the language to support her directly in her studies, they provided her with the motivation and support she needed to succeed academically. She graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, MA with degrees in Asian Studies and Environmental Studies. She was an Assistant Language Teacher at Shingu High School in Fukuoka, Japan through the JET Program. Shortly prior to joining RISE, she served the Denver community as a library clerk at the Denver Public Library. Through RISE, she hopes to empower families and students to take charge of their educational futures and create a new system that is equitable for all.
